Your Guide to Knowing NYC

New York is more than a city. It’s millions of ways to live, connect, and belong. To Know NYC is your insider’s guide to discovering it all.

We’ll help you find the people and places that make the city feel like home.

New York is full of scenes to discover, and The Get to Know Series makes it easy to dive in. Each session brings together newcomers to the city to explore a different slice of the city — arts, music, food, tech, literature, sports, dating — and connect with the people shaping it.

Moving to New York can feel overwhelming. NYC Orientation makes it easier. Join us for a guided look at the neighborhoods, people, and experiences that will help you feel connected and at home faster.

The Get To Know Series

A city this big can feel impossible to break into. The Get To Know Series makes it easier. Each event features a panel of insiders sharing their favorite spots, events, and advice — followed by an open mingle where you connect with fellow new New Yorkers.

How It Works

  1. Panel of Insiders
Hear directly from people shaping NYC life — artists, musicians, chefs, founders, writers, and more. Get their tips, stories, and insider recs.

  2. Audience Q&A
Ask your burning questions and get real advice from locals and experts.

  3. Mingle & Connect
Stick around after the panel to meet other attendees. Swap recs, make new friends, and start building your NYC community.

The NYC Orientation

Meet Your Neighbors

Meet your neighbors. Explore your city. Feel at home faster.

NYC Orientation is part mixer, part insider’s guide. Join us in different neighborhoods around the city to meet new people, and get real recommendations on what to do, see, and eat nearby. Each NYC Orientation is a casual meet-and-mingle, sometimes paired with a walking tour, that leaves you with new friends and a fresh perspective on the city.

  1. Gather in the Neighborhood
We host in a local spot (like a café, bar, or community hub).

  2. Meet Newcomers + Locals
Mingle with people from the area. Locals share tips, stories, and recommendations, from best eats to hidden gems.

  3. Explore Together (optional add-on)
Some NYC Orientations include a short guided walk, giving you an insider’s look at landmarks, hangouts, and culture.

  4. Leave Connected
Walk away with new friends, real recs, and a feeling of being at home.
